Ministries We Support
Here at NLV not only do we believe that the local body must be engaged in our community, but we also recognize that we can’t do it all on our own. God has called and equipped many individuals, churches, and organizations to advance His kingdom. Sometimes our best stewardship is to use funds and volunteer support to advance their mission. NLV ensures that at least 10% of every dollar (a tithe) we receive in tithe and offerings to advance the kingdom through others. Below you will find the ministries we are currently supporting through prayer, service, and finances, as well as links to their websites where available.
Foreign Missions
Vineyard USA
Vineyard USA is the national association of Vineyard churches. They provide leadership and guidance over the almost 500 Vineyard churches in the United States. That’s an estimated 133,588 people who call Vineyard USA churches home. You can find tons of helpful resources and more information HERE.
Central America
Les Melton
Our long-time missionary to Central America, Les Melton, has a wide range of ministries under his supervision. Here are a few by name. The Ahikam Home, which houses around 35 orphans from age 0-18 who don’t have a safe home. Casa Vida is designed for women who age out of the the Ahikam Home but still need to develop marketable skills. They train them up in a loving, Christian environment. On top of all this, Les also works closely with many area churches and pastors throughout Central America and trains up pastors through the Theological Pentecostal Seminary in Guatemala and the Messenger Pentecostal Bible Institute in Honduras. You can find more information about Les HERE.
Costa Rica
Skip Preston
Our missionary, Skip Preston, has founded Mission Activation which operates in Costa Rica. Their mission is to activate positive community transformation through compassionate, holistic, and empowering programs that put God’s love into action. Skip and his team recently launched Activation Church, a church body that ministers to both locals and the Ex-Pat community of Costa Rica. You can learn more about these missions HERE.
Africa

NLV Ministries & Local Non-Profits
Blessings & Benedictions
Don Milton
Run by NLV’s Pastor Emeritus Don Milton, Blessings and Benedictions is much more than the videos he publishes every week! Pastor Don mentors Vineyard pastors from around the whole United States in a personalized, one-on-one format. He also works with churches which are in a transition of leadership or churches in crisis. His decades of experience in church leadership continue to be a blessing to us and VUSA as a whole. For a deeper look, click HERE.
Benevolence
Every month we set aside funds for our people to be disciples of Jesus to their friends, family, and neighbors of Jesus. When a congregant brings the need of someone they know and are discipling to our attention, these funds are used to support our congregants to be the hands and feet of Jesus and meet that need.
Outreach
Every month we set aside funds for outreach here in our community. While benevolence is focused on meeting a specific need, outreach funds are used in more evangelistic endeavors. The pinnacle of the year for outreach is the Community Carnival which we host.
Caregiving Network
NLV has long supported the Caregiving Network here in Midland. They exist to fulfill urgent needs and foster self-sufficiency for Midland County Residents. In addition to bill assistance, their food pantry and “apartment in a box” ministry are amazing expressions of Christ’s love. Learn more HERE.
Friends of Whispering Pines
This non-profit serves the Whispering Pines Trailer Park community members with the love of Jesus. They conduct outreach events, fun things for the kids, and weekly community meals through the summer. NLV is closely partnered with them as Pastor Dan serves as the Board President.
Life Clinic
This is our local center for women facing an unplanned pregnancy. They offer free ultrasounds and encourage the mothers to choose life for their child. They also offer parenting classes where parents can earn diapers, clothes, and many other baby necessities from their pantry. Learn more HERE.
Open Door
The Open Door traces its heritage back to 1973! They serve the Midland community with food, housing, and family support. They operate two separate homeless shelters. One for men and a second for women & children. They also operate the community soup kitchen which is free to the public for lunch Monday through Saturday. Learn more HERE.
Intervarsity
Mike Petersen
Intervarsity is a campus ministry and the missionary we support is working on the Saginaw Valley State University campus. They come along side young people during some of their most formative years and encourage them to grow spiritually. Learn more HERE.
Gateway Healthcare
Gateway Healthcare is an amazing resource to have in our community! They offer affordable primary and urgent care services, and they won’t turn anyone away for lack of funds. NLV is closely tied with Gateway as two of our members serve on its board of directors.
Prison Minsitries
MCFOAR
MCFOAR stands for the Midland Community Former Offenders Advocacy and Rehabilitation. (you can see why we just call them MCFOAR :) They work with individuals who have been incarcerated and help them reintegrate with society. They have had tremendous success in helping these individuals reestablish themselves in the community since 2013, and boast in the Lord a 0% recidivism rate 2 years running. Learn more HERE.
Reach the Forgotten
Reach the Forgotten is a second jail ministry we support. They work with individuals who are incarcerated by teaching, preaching, and showing the love of Jesus Christ. You can learn more HERE.
Holy Shift
Holy Shift is a prison ministry run by one of our congregants. She works intimately with women who are incarcerated and brings Jesus to them. She also helps those women transition back to the outside world when their sentence is concluded.
